Indonesia: Six Airports Report Financial Losses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – At least six airports in Indonesia managed by state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) have reported financial losses.

Low purchasing power of the people and low number of flights are reportedly the cause of the losses.

“There are indeed many airports which report financial loses,” said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I Danang S. Baskoro in Bogor, on Saturday (25/2).

In terms of aeronautical business, Danang said the number of flights to and from those airports is low.

“From the perspective non-aeronautical business, the sales of products and kiosk rent is also low,” he added.

Those six airports are Pattimura airport in Ambon, Frans Kaisiepo airport in Biak, El Tari airport in Kupang, Sam Ratulangi airport in Manado, Adi Sumarmo airport in Solo, and Ahmad Yani airport in Semarang.
