Indonesia Launches First Blockchain Hub
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF), the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN), the Indonesian Blockchain Association, and startup company HARA launched the Indonesia Blockchain Hub; the first of its kind in Indonesia.
HARA chief Reggy Wahyu said that the establishment of the Blockchain Hub is expected to create a meeting facility for blockchain actors, a training place for beginners, and to accommodate the ideas of Blockchain activists through a co-working space they provide.
“That way, the place can be an incubator for creating ideas that can support Indonesia’s economy,” Reggy said in Jakarta, August 16.
In the past ten years, blockchain technology has become a new trend in the Indonesian financial sector. Former Finance Minister Chatib Basri said the technology would bring real impacts to the acceleration of the Indonesian economy.
Responding to this, BEKRAF Vice Chairman Ricky Persik said that by implementing blockchain technology in the business sector, Indonesia could be more competitive. This technology can be applied in various sectors; one of them is creative economy.
