Indonesia: Facebook Claims to Have Shut Down Third-Party Apps
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Facebook Indonesia has sent a clarification through a letter dated April 25, about the demands of the government. The letter is an answer to the second warning letter sent by the government on April 10.
In the letter, Facebook claimed to have restricted the access and ended the third-party applications, such as CubeYou and Aggregate IQ.
“Facebook is currently investigating the third-party application,” said the director general for applications and informatics at the Communication and Information Ministry Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, today, April 26.
As for the audit process, Facebook stated the process is underway and might take times. The social media platform built by Mark Zuckerberg promised to inform the progress of the investigation to the Indonesian government.
In addition to the letter, Semuel got a report that Facebook official is said to be visiting Indonesia as to explain the development progress face-to-face to the Communication and Information Ministry.
Semuel added the government is struggling to prevent further personal data misuse by holding a socialization to the public. “The government also quicken to final the draft bill (RUU) of Personal Data Protection to be then submitted to the House of Representative (DPR),” he said.
