Indonesia: 15th Economic Package Expected to Reduce Logistic Costs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The 15th Economic Package recently launched by the government was made in response to the demands from businessmen in the logistic sector. Chairman of the Indonesian Logistic Association Zaldy Ilham Masita said that it aimed at distributing good distribution and reducing logistic costs.

Zaldy also said that the association hopes this economic package can reduce logistics costs and begin logistic reforms in Indonesia. Nevertheless, he warned against regulations that can be misused such as regulation on the revocation of initial capital for businessmen in sea transport sector.

“The regulation can create illegal broker companies,” Zaldy said in Jakarta on Friday, June 16.

For the record, the government issued a new economic package focusing on logistics. The government hopes that businessmen who often store their goods abroad can relocate the goods to Indonesia because operational costs that have been cut and regulations have been simplified.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy said the impacts of this package is to give ease for businessmen especially in shipping and shipyard sectors.
