Cambodia: GDCE collects $76 million from import tax on right-hand drive vehicles tax

The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) has collected some $76 million from import tax and import duties on right-hand drive vehicles and illegal imported vehicles.

At a press conference on July 7, Kun Nhim, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and GDCE Director General said that as of June 30, 9,753 right-hand drive vehicles and illegal imported vehicles have registered and paid import tax and import duties.

In a gathering yesterday with the Cambodian delegation who will depart for the ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia, Prime Minister Hun Sen allowed the remaining right-hand drive vehicles in the country to pay tax without changing over to left-hand drive.

The Premier emphasised that all right-hand drive vehicles are not no longer allowed to be imported in Cambodia. AKP-Chea Vannak
