Cambodia: 194 tourism projects of $30 billion directed to Preah Sihanouk province

Cambodia’s coastal province of Preah Sihanouk has so far received a total of 194 tourism projects worth about $30 billion.

The update was shared yesterday by Preah Sihanouk Provincial Governor Kuoch Chamroeun in a press conference here in Phnom Penh.

The move will contribute essentially to the tourism industry in the province listed among the top tourist destinations of Cambodia.

In 2019 alone, the province received 2,229,428 national and international tourists (an increase of almost 9 percent) – of them 1,343,690 were domestic visitors (a drop of around 8 percent) and 885,795 were foreign tourists (a rise of 52 percent).

Currently, he added, the province has about 12,000 rooms of hotels and guest houses.

Preah Sihanouk province is located in the Southwest of Cambodia, approximately 230 kilometres from Phnom Penh capital, and connected with railroad passing Kandal, Takeo and Kampot provinces.

In the past years, the province has transformed itself into not only an attractive tourist site, but also a centre of industry, trade and agriculture. Phal Sophanith/AKP
