Bank Indonesia Forecasts 1.09% Inflation in September 2022

TEMPO.COJakarta – Bank Indonesia (BI) predicted that the inflation in September 2022 will reach 1.09 percent. The prediction was based on the Price Monitoring Survey conducted in the third week of September 2022.

The predicted figure was increased from the results of the Price Monitoring Survey on the second week of September 2022, which was 0.77 percent.

“Inflation developments until the third week of September 2022 are estimated at 1.09 percent,” said the BI head of communications department Erwin Haryono in a written statement, Friday, September 16, 2022.

The main contributors to the inflation until the third week of September were fuel prices with 0.91 percent (month-to-month/mtm), urban transportation with 0.04 percent mtm, inter-city transportation, broiler eggs, and rice with each 0.02 percent mtm.

“As well as clove cigarettes and household gas each with 0.01 percent mtm,” Erwin added.

Meanwhile, commodities that experienced deflation in the third week of September were shallots with 0.05 percent mtm, cooking oil and red chilies with each 0.03 percent mtm, cayenne pepper, broiler chicken, and gold jewelery respectively with each 0.02 percent mtm, and air transportation fares with 0.01 percent mtm.
