AirAsia Indonesia to resume operations tomorrow, will allow only one carry-on bag
THE JAKARTA POST – Low-cost carrier AirAsia Indonesia is limiting passengers to one small carry-on bag as part of its new health and safety rules.
The bag should be either a laptop bag or handbag weighing a maximum seven kilogrammes with dimensions not exceeding 40 by 30 by 10 centimetres, otherwise it will be placed with checked baggage.
The carrier provides free baggage allowance of up to 15kg for domestic flights.
Aside from carry-on baggage, the protocols also require passengers to have their temperatures checked, maintain physical distancing, regularly wash their hands, minimise physical contact and wear face masks prior to, during and after their flight. The carrier also advises passengers to bring spare face masks.
Regarding inflight meals, passengers are required to order their foods and beverages via the airline’s website or mobile app at least 24 hours before flying.
AirAsia Indonesia safety and security director Achmad Sadikin said the company had adjusted its safety and health protocols to align with the government’s latest regulations during its “hibernation” period.
“Our entire staff, including pilots and cabin crew, have undergone intensive safety procedure training that will be updated depending on the latest policies as we’re preparing to resume operations,” Achmad said in a statement.
