Thailand – JobsDB: IT nets highest salary at officer level

IT ranks first when its comes to the highest paying job at officer level in Thailand with a monthly salary of 23,225-41,122 baht, as companies gear up for digital transformation, according to job search platform JobsDB.

The result is presented in JobsDB’s Salary Report 2021, which examines the highest and lowest paid jobs by position — officer, supervisor, manager, top levels.

At the officer level, IT rose from third place in 2019 to top the ranking in the latest report, followed by professional services, telecommunication, medical services and e-commerce.

IT also ranks third at the supervisor level, second at manager level and seventh at the top level.

“This signifies market demand for transformation as a result of digital disruption,” said Pornladda Dathratwibul, JobsDB Thailand’s country manager.

At the supervisor-level positions, e-commerce leads in terms of offering the highest salary of 36,857-64,787 baht, followed by telecommunication at 36,541-67,134 baht and IT at 36,522-66,920 baht.

At the manager level, insurance leads the way in terms of the highest paid positions, standing at 55,762-90,716 baht.

This was followed by IT with a salary of 54,435-93,324 baht, banking at 52,993-94,481 baht, telecommunication at 52,353-94,607 baht and professional services at 52,274-90,941 baht.

A the top level, professional services are in pole position with a salary of 113,563-164,071 baht, followed by e-commerce at 113,271-161,588 baht and banking at 112,917-165,114 baht.

According to JobsDB, banking has become one of the 10 highest paying jobs at all levels.

“It is noticed that banks have extensively opted for digital banking strategies so online transactions have more than doubled,” said Ms Pornladda.

“The transformation into full-scale digital banking has resulted in rising demand for IT and analytics professionals who can drive new digital banking product development.”

Referring to telecom-linked positions, she said not only do large organisations offer high salaries, but medium and small firms also need to seek talent that can help develop infrastructure needed to meet digital technology requirements and applications.

“The pandemic situation requires organisations to migrate into the new normal, inducing them to be more reliant on digital platforms,” said Ms Pornladda.

JobsDB also ranked the top ten jobs that companies need the most in 2021.

IT ranks first with 19%, followed by sales, customer service and business development with 17%, engineering with 10%, marketing and public relations with 8%, accounting with 7%, admin and human resources with 7%, banking with 5%, manufacturing with 3%, transport and logistics with 3% and professional services at 2%.
