Singapore unemployment rates hold steady at pre-Covid levels in October
SINGAPORE’S unemployment dipped across the board in October, remaining at around pre-Covid levels, according to the Ministry of Manpower’s (MOM) report on Wednesday (Dec 7).
The monthly unemployment situation data showed that overall unemployment rate slid to 2 per cent in October; resident unemployment, to 2.8 per cent and citizen unemployment rate, to 3 per cent. All three rates were 0.1 percentage point lower than their levels in September.
The ministry noted that 67,700 residents were unemployed in October, among whom 60,800 were citizens.
MOM previously said in its advance labour force release for 2022 that the resident workforce continued to see improvements this year, compared with a year ago. The unemployment rate fell for workers across occupational groups, it added.
