Recalled baby formula not for sale in Cambodia
Dumex Cambodia on Saturday said that one of its baby formula product recently recalled in Singapore is not for sale in the Kingdom, appealing to local consumers to continue purchasing Dumex products.
Last month, the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) detected the presence of the cronobacter sakazakii bacteria in one batch of Dumex’s Mamil Gold Infant Milk Formula-Step 1, triggering the recall of the product in the Asian city-state.
A few days later, the Cambodia Import-Export Inspection and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (Camcontrol) issued a statement advising Cambodian consumers, importers and retailers to stop the purchase and consumption of that particular product.
On Saturday, Dumex said in a statement that the product subject to the recall is sold only in Singapore, and is not available for sale in Cambodia.
The company added that the possible contamination of the product was an “isolated incident”, and there have been no cases of cronobacter infection associated with the consumption of Dumex’s milk powder reported to Singapore’s Ministry of Health this year.
“Dumex would like to underscore our commitment to working hand-in-hand with Camcontrol to safeguard the integrity of all brands sold by Dumex in Cambodia.
“At Dumex, the quality and safety of our products is our absolute priority. For all our products, we have in place stringent processes and conduct rigorous tests that are of international standards. We would like to confirm that consumers in Cambodia can continue to consume all Dumex products,” it said.
