Yangon eases vehicle import regulation
FRIDAY, 17 JUNE 2016 – In a partial relaxation of regulations, a government committee will be allowing the importation of some vehicles without allocated parking spaces. Starting yesterday, the Supervisory Committee for Motor Vehicle Imports will allow companies and donors to import buses, heavy machinery for business use and vehicles for religious use by prior agreement with the regional government, said spokesperson U Myint Cho.
However, the regional government has yet to decide on the import of most passenger cars, causing difficulties to many importers.
