Ministries of Labour and Commerce issue reminder for factories to participate in Better Factories Cambodia Project
The Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Commerce called on directors of textile, garment and bag factories to participate in the Better Factories Cambodia.
The factory directors were reminded to (this is an unofficial translation of the letter):
Register and pay financial contributions to support the Factories Cambodia (BFC) project through the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC) in accordance to the Memorandum of Understanding between Royal Government of Cambodia, GMAC and International Labour Organization (ILO), dated November 21, 2019.
Factories must have certificate of compliance with the working conditions issued by the Certification Committee on compliance with the standards of working conditions of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. This year, businesses can apply for the certificate through the self-declaration system of labour inspection through the automated system through the website https://sicms.mlvt.gov.kh/ of the Ministry of Labour.
From April 1 onwards, factories that produce and export textiles and garments, clothing and travel products and bags, which are unregistered to the BFC project and lack a certificate of compliance with the working standards will not be authorized to export goods by the Ministry of Commerce.
