Laos’ trade deficit reaches USD114M in July
VIENTIANE (XINHUA) – Laos recorded a trade deficit of USD114 million in July, according to a report on Friday from the Lao Trade portal website.
The total value of trade in July amounted to USD968 million, of which USD427 million was exports and USD541 million was imports.
The country’s major exports include paper and paper products, gold, wood pulp and paper scraps.
The major imports include diesel, mechanical equipment (except vehicle mechanics), wood and paper scraps, gasoline, steel products, animals, electrical wires and cables, and plastic products.
China remained the top export destination for Laos, followed by Vietnam and Thailand.
Meanwhile, the main importing countries of Laos included Thailand, China, Vietnam, the United States, and Japan, according to the report.
