Laos’ 25 years of bilateral relations with Brunei hailed
IT IS my greatest honour to be extending this message on behalf of the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic as well as the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the whole Government of the Lao PDR on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
I would like to express my warmest congratulations and best wishes on this auspicious occasion of the 43rd Lao National Day!
During the past 43 years, the Lao PDR has made a lot of progress in various areas.
The country has recorded rapid development in every sector, it enjoys political stability, has a good societal security, its people in unity and solidarity, as well as a market economy that has made special development and growth.
The year 2018, is yet a significant one for the country as it marks the third year of the implementation of its Resolution of the 10th Party Congress as well as the eight Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan.
With the country’s national aspiration of removing its status of being a least developed country by the year 2020 and further targetting to be an upper middle-income country by 2030, the Lao PDR has been working on various measures to address the obstacles and challenges the country is currently facing.
This is to ensure the existence of a favourable condition and environment that will further improve the country’s growth and in turn make better the people’s livelihood.
With the continuous firm political stability, good social order and steady economic growth the country is currently experiencing – with the addition of a recorded Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of 6.2 per cent and GDP per capita of USD2,639, as well as public management and administration that has been conducted based on laws and regulations, the Lao PDR may very well be on its way to achieving its national dream.
The Lao PDR has always put great emphasis on the promotion of tourism as an important spearheading economic sector that contributes quite significantly to the country’s socio-economic development.
Therefore, to attract more tourists from within and outside of the country, the Lao PDR officially launched ‘Visit Laos Year 2018’.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite you, your family members, and friends to visit our country, the ‘Simply Beautiful’ Laos, for you to experience the astonishing atmosphere, unique and fine culture and traditions, as well as the beautiful scenery and natural environment of the Lao PDR.
Speaking about bilateral relations between the Lao PDR and Brunei Darussalam, we highly appreciate the friendly relations that exist between our two countries.
Both the Lao PDR and Brunei Darussalam have regularly exchanged visits particularly among officials, senior officials and high-level delegations.
We are happy to note that this year is the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between our two countries which started back in the year 1993.
In celebrating this occasion, high level exchange visits between the Lao PDR and Brunei Darussalam will be made to further enhance the existing friendly relations and good cooperation.
We are very grateful for the contributions and assistance that have been extended by the Brunei Government and its people to the Lao PDR to this day and I greatly hope that in the near future, the bilateral cooperation will be expanded in other areas as our two countries have just ended the 2nd Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation Meeting (JCBC-2) last June in the Lao PDR.
We are also happy to note that the embassy in both Lao PDR and Brunei Darussalam has been actively promoting its bilateral contract at people-to-people level by taking part in various local cultural, social, and educational events throughout the year.
In conclusion, on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on December 2, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my best wishes for great success, good health, and prosperity to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam and members of the royal family, as well as the Bruneian people and friends.
I also wish for the existing friendly relations and close cooperation between our two countries to be further enhanced in the years to come in the interest of both our people in order to ensure peace, stability and development.
May Brunei Darussalam continue to enjoy prosperity and well-being among its people and may the Lao PDR and its people too, enjoy continuous prosperity and happiness.
