Lan Ha Bay among most beautiful places to visit in Southeast Asia
Thrillist, a New York-based travel site, has named Lan Ha Bay near the northern coastal city of Hai Phong as the top Vietnamese destination in its list of the most beautiful places to visit in every Southeast Asian country.
According to details given by writer Kastalia Medrano, the floating village of Cat Ba Island, which contains around 200 homes, has history which dates back thousands of years.
“The bay itself is home to several hundred islands, of which Cat Ba is the largest (you can rent a boat to explore, or spend the day swimming),” she noted.
Medrano shared that there are well over 100 hotels in the immediate vicinity, meaning that visitors are able to take their time if they wish to stay for a prolonged period of time in the area.
Lan Ha Bay is located south of the Ha Long Bay-UNESCO World Heritage site and is part of the Cat Ba island area of Hai Phong.
In many ways, Lan Ha Bay can be considered as an extension of Ha Long Bay and is included in most Vietnam travel packages which start in Hanoi, approximately three hours to the west by road. There are roughly 300 tiny limestone islands in Lan Ha Bay, meaning that it is a great place to cruise, just like its larger neighbour.
Completing the list of the most beautiful place to visit in Southeast Asia are Kelimutu National Park of Indonesia, Kampong Ayer of Brunei, Kuang Si Falls of Laos, Tun Sakaran Marine Park, Borneo of Malaysia, Banaue Rice Terraces of the Philippines, Atauro Island of Timor-Leste, Gardens by the Bay of Singapore, Angkor Wat of Cambodia, and Bagan of Myanmar.
