Indonesia: Mitsubishi Invests in GoJek to Face Future Challenges, Says CEO
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – On July 8th, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced its partnership with Indonesian startup company GoJek.
MMC Chairman Osamu Masuko on Wednesday said that the automotive company is looking forward to the partnership that conforms to the company’s views on future development.
“Future challenges will surely get more difficult. We need a partner to work with and improve together, which includes companies like GoJek,” said Masuko at Hotel Fairmont in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He argues that running a business in the next 100 years will be a stark contrast to the challenges that faced businesses in the past 100 years where global manufacturing companies could easily start their businesses.
“There are changes that need to be followed. Such as autonomous vehicle technology, electric-powered vehicles, and that can’t be done alone. There must be a partner in order to develop the technologies I parallel to achieve a common goal,” he said.
Masuko said new business opportunities will be learned with this partnership and gave an example of the possibility of creating new mobility services. “However, the investment value cannot be revealed yet.”
