Indonesia: Land acquisition for high-speed train project reaches 80%
The company behind the Jakarta-Banding high-speed railway project PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia Cina (KCIC) has said that land acquisition for the project reached 80 percent in October.
KCIC president director Chandra Dwiputra added that the acquisition of the other 20 percent was expected to be completed by the end of this year.
“The remaining 20 percent of land for the project is spread over a number of locations. Most of the sites are social or public-facility land like roads, mosques, etc. We have to construct alternative facilities for them,” he said as reported by kontan.co.id on Wednesday.
Land in the Karawang industrial estate on which is built five factories was also being acquired, he said.
Chandra gave an assurance that the company was now in the process of accelerating the project construction, while the process of completing the acquisition was under way after the China Development Bank (CDB) had disbursed US$810.4 million.
He said KCIC was scheduled to receive another disbursement of $365 million in December.
Chandra said the company had so far spent Rp 4.5 trillion ($296 million) on land acquisition, while the projected total investment for the project amounted to $6.07 billion.
Meanwhile, he said that by the end of 2018 the construction of the project was expected to reach 8 percent. The groundbreaking for the project was held in early 2016. (bbn)
