Indonesia – Jokowi: Cash Labor-Intensive Program Increases Purchasing Power

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo expected cash labor-intensive program implemented in numerous areas can increase the people’s purchasing power.

“We hope with this labor-intensive program, the circulation of money in villages increases, consumption and purchasing power also go up. Throughout Lampung, the program is implemented in 151 areas,” President Jokowi said in SouthLampung Regency on Sunday (21/1).

President Jokowi supervised the program after officiating Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll road of Bakauheni Harbor-Simpang Susun Bakauhenisegment and Simpang Susun Lematang-Simpang Susun Kotabaru segment.

Palace Press Bureau head Bey Machmudin mentioned 150 farmers are involved in the programin which they will build and improve tertiary irrigation channel or conduct maintenance work for 150 m long secondary irrigation per location.

The benefit of the program is building irrigation, and as in other areas, the workers will receive cash payment weekly.
