Indonesia expects MoU renewal on tourism sector with ASEAN-India
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani expected a renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on intensifying cooperation in the tourism sector with ASEAN-India member states.
According to Adnyani’s statement here on Thursday, India has in place the human resources development program in the tourism sector that included short- and long-term scholarships in collaboration with ASEAN member countries.
“We will focus on efforts to improve the quality of human resources in the tourism sector,” Adnyani stated while leading the 28th ASEAN Plus India National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) on Wednesday, July 6, in Bali.
Adnyani believes that improving the quality of human resources in the tourism sector can open up job opportunities and strengthen the ability of tourism professionals to be greater and more competitive.
Adnyani highlighted the long-standing cooperation in several areas between Indonesia and India and expected them to be further strengthened in order to revive tourism and the creative economy in each country.
“We actively participated in the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2022 event in India on May 18-20, 2022. We also collaborate with Online Travel Agents (OTAs), such as MakeMyTrip and KST India. Next, we will also conduct a famtrip (familiarization trip) with the media from India in August 2022,” Adnyani stated.
Meanwhile, one of the trainings for human resources in the tourism sector provided by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is the tour leader training in Belitung.
The activity was held on June 15-17, 2022, at a hotel, with 32 participants from the districts of Belitung and East Belitung.
The participants had received a variety of training materials, such as health, safety, and security procedures at the workplace. They were also offered greater insights into the field of tourism as well as ways to enhance their ability to read, write, and communicate orally by using English.
