Combating inflation among key measures for Vietnam
HANOI: The Planning and Investment Ministry will focus on keeping the macro economy stable, controlling inflation and ensuring economic growth at a reasonable rate.
Speaking at a conference, minister Nguyen Chi Dung said the slogan for action in 2023 would be “Seizing opportunities – Towards the future”, adding that in difficulties, there would always be opportunities.
Dung said the workload of the ministry in 2023 would be heavy.
As this year was forecast to be more difficult and challenging than 2022, the ministry would focus on accelerating and transforming the country’s economic structure, renew its growth model, and improve on policies.
He pointed out that the ministry would also be creating breakthroughs in infrastructure development and disbursement of public investment.
Although 2022 had been a tumultuous year, Vietnam’s macro-economy was kept stable with positive economic growth with inflation under control, in which the ministry had played an important role.
According to statistics, the Vietnamese economy expanded at 8.02% in 2022 – the highest growth compared with the 2011 to 2022 period, thanks to post-pandemic solid recovery and high target set at 6% to 6.5%.
