China Approves 43 Myanmar Companies to Export
After collaborations between Myanmar’s Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Myanmar Embassy to China, and General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China-GACC, China has approved 43 Myanmar rice exporting companies enabling them to export wholegrain rice and broken rice to China. Before, there were only 11 Myanmar companies approved by Chinese authorities.
Myanmar authorities, having inspected the information of the applicant companies per SPS Protocol, sent the Inspection Report on 43 companies and 79 rice mills to GACC through the diplomatic channel on July 1 this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and China’s AQSIQ signed an agreement on inspection and food safety on September 24.
During Chinese President Xi’s state visit to Myanmar on January 17-18, China’s customs authority and Myanmar’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation signed the agreement on January 17.
According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar exported 1.8366 million tons of whole grain rice and 0.5193 million tons of broken rice in the 2018-19 Fiscal Year and 1.3758 million tons of whole grain rice and 0.7908 million tons of broken rice in the 2019-20 Fiscal Year.
