Cambodian PM encourages more investments from Singapore
Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged Singapore to encourage more investors to do business in Cambodia.
The encouragement was made during the courtesy meeting between the Cambodian Premier and visiting Singapore Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, at the Peace Palace Wednesday.
Hun Sen also asked both sides to boost their two-way trade and consider cooperation in the areas of education, health and other potential sectors.
Dr. Balakrishnan expressed Singapore’s commitment to promote the bilateral cooperation with Cambodia, adding that Singaporean investors are interested to invest in Cambodia in the fields of commerce, cold storage, and transportation.
He also congratulated Hun Sen on receiving the Sunhak Peace Prize, on assuming the ASEAN chairmanship in 2022, and on succeeding in preventing the COVID-19 spread.
Hun Sen thanked Singapore for considering Cambodia as a safe area leading to the resumption of flights between the two ASEAN nations.
Besides, he informed the Singapore foreign minister of the purposes of his recent visit to Myanmar – ceasefire, provision of humanitarian assistance without discrimination, and dialogue creation.
Dr. Balakrishnan arrived in Phnom Penh on Feb. 15 for an official visit and to participate in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat (AMM Retreat) to be held here today. C. Nika – AKP
