Cambodian labor force now returning to Thailand
BANGKOK, 18th April 2018 (NNT) – Cambodian laborers have started making their way back to Thailand after the Songkran holiday came to an end.
Immigration officials in Sa Kaeo Province have been busy working on the return of Cambodian personnel, who were held over in a waiting area until an inspection of their travel documents and a search of their belongings could be done, to prevent any smuggling of illegal items.
Sa Kaeo Immigration chief Pol. Col. Benjapon Rodsawat said that measures were already planned to cope with the large returning labor force.
He said that Cambodian citizens who returned from holiday, waited at the arrivals building, which is equipped with electric fans and restrooms.
Pol. Col. Benjamin said that the immigration service is currently operational from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in order to deal with more than 10,000 returning workers each day.
Meanwhile, the immigration office in Poipet city reported that between 30 to 40,000 Cambodian workers had already reported to the office to cross into Thailand and it is expected that the immigration process will be concluded within a few days.
