The 17th Asean Ports & Shipping 2019 will be held at Phnom Penh’s NagaWorld Hotel on September 10-12.

In an invitation letter to stakeholders, Lou Kim Chhun, CEO of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), and Hei Bavy, CEO of Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP), noted that the event is the largest gathering of shipping industry actors in the region.

“PPAP and PAS are delighted to host this event in our vibrant city of Phnom Penh and we welcome you to visit our beautiful country and attend this important annual industry event,” they said.

At least 500 people from Cambodia and abroad are expected to attend the three-day gathering, including senior government officials, and representatives from the region’s leading freight forwarders, logistics companies, ports, and railway operators, among others.

The PPAP and PAS officials said the event will be an ideal platform to network, learn about major developments in the global and regional shipping industry, and get to know Cambodia’s shipping industry.

“There will be the exclusive opportunity for the registered conference delegates to visit our river port (PPAP) and seaport (PAS), and to study first-hand the commercial and technical developments taking place in both ports,” they said.

“There will be the commercial opportunity for 60 exhibitors and sponsors to network directly with the delegates at this major international maritime event for the Asean region,” they added.

On its website, Transport Events, the main organiser, listed scores of confirmed exhibitors, including top companies in the shipping, logistics, and affiliated sectors from Malaysia, Indonesia, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, India, Japan, the United States, and Germany.

Bromma, Indonesia Port Corporation II, IT Portlink Sdn Bhd, Johor Port Authority, Liebherr, Malaysia Southern Gateways, Mantsinen, and Northport Malaysia are expected to send delegations.

The event will also feature seminars led by experts in the international shipping industry. Speakers will include Anthonie Versluis, managing partner for Malaysia of Roland Berger; Han Ning, director at Drewry Maritime Advisors; and Mark Yong, managing director for Asia Pacific of Blume Global

The previous Asean shipping event was held in Johor Malaysia last year.
