Cambodia: Tax exemption for tourism businesses in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap extended
The Royal Government of Cambodia has decided to extend the tax exemption for tourism businesses in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap from July to September 2022.
This is part of the Royal Government’s guidelines on additional measures to continue to manage the impact and support the recovery of the tourism sector.
The Royal Government’s press release states, “Continue to exempt all types of monthly taxes, except VAT for hotels, guesthouses and travel agencies registered with the General Department of Taxation and have Business activities in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville for an additional three months, from July to September 2022.
These businesses are still required to file tax returns and use the online value-added tax (E-VAT) system on a monthly basis during this period.”
The Royal Government has also decided to continue to provide mediation by freezing the debt figures by the end of 2019 and excluding penalties for 2022 for the tourism sector.
It also encourages businesses in the tourism sector to develop skills development programs for their own employees and be able to apply for financial support from the Skills Development Fund (SDF) project as needed.
