Ringgit demand in Brunei soars during festive season
Tuesday, July 12, 2016 – MONEY changers in the country recorded an influx of Malaysian Ringgit buyers over the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri holidays.
Vendors interviewed by The Brunei Times said that the Malaysian Ringgit was selling hot within the first three days of Hari Raya, making up for the slow business during Ramadhan leading up to the festivities.
“We only started seeing an increase in customers last Friday, and most of them bought the Ringgit,” said Armah, a teller at PJPM Money Changer in Bandar Seri Begawan.
Armah said some Bruneians take advantage of the Hari Raya holidays to cross the border.
Another money changer in the capital also saw high demand for the Malaysian currency during Aidil Fitri. Read More?
