Bank Indonesia: Govt Has Done A Good Job in Controlling Inflation
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardojo said that the government has done a good job in controlling inflation this year. “I see major improvements,” he said when accompanying Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita inspecting the affordable market program in Jakarta yesterday.
Aside from central and local inflation control teams, Agus also highlighted the role of the food resilience task force of the National Police that has helped keep staple food prices under control.
“[The task force] is capable of maintaining and enforcing the law to prevent unnecessary price hike,” he said.
Moreover, he also appreciates the affordable market program held by the government on June 7 to 20 ahead of Eid al-Fitr in a bid to control inflation.
He said that the program can be emulated across Indonesia.
