Indonesia: Private Investments to Boost National Development in 2018
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution revealed that the foreign investments for the national development will increase in 2018.
“[National development projects] will not only be funded by the State Budget, the role of the private sector will increase,” said Minister Darmin Nasution on Thursday, August 17.
According to him, the government has prepared a number of incentives to boost the number of private investments towards infrastructure projects which include a land procurement guarantee. The government has prepared a Rp35.4 trillion budget in the 2018 state budget plan for land acquisitions.
According to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the investment and export sectors have become the backbone to improve next year’s economy. “We’re optimistic by the growth because of influences outside of the state budget such as investments and exports will hopefully support,” she said.
The government will rely on the private sector and reduce the debt financing in 2018. The economic growth for next year is set to be around 5.4 percent through a sustainable public consumption rate, increased investments, and improved export and import activities.
