Indonesia: Govt Launch Fresh Branding of Ten Tourist Destinations
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The government has launched fresh branding of 10 major tourist destinations in Indonesia in a bid to boost national tourism sector.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya launched the branding coincided with cultural, natural and tourism exhibition adopting the theme The New Chapters of Indonesia yesterday.
Ten tourist destinations with the new branding are Bandung (West Java), Great Bali, Great Jakarta, Great Kepri (Riau Islands), Joglosemar (Yogyakarta, Solo & Semarang), Coral Wonders (Wakatobi, Bunaken & Raja Ampat), Medan, Makassar, Lombok and Banyuwangi.
According to him, the fresh branding are aimed at synchronizing the sub-brands (destination brands) with the masterbrand (Wonderful Indonesia). The move is expected to enhance the masterbrand’s position and foster synergy between the central and local governments.
“The infrastructure to support tourism in 10 major destinations is the most accomplished which will make it easier to brand them in a bid to increase foreign tourist arrivals,” he said.
The government is targeting 15 million foreign tourist arrivals this year and 20 million in 2019. The 10 tourist destinations with fresh branding are primed particularly in attraction, accessibility and amenities (3A).
The 3A elements will facilitate tourist visiting the destinations enjoying the facilities, accommodation and mainstay attractions. He pointed to marine tourism in by Wakatobi, Bunaken and Raja Ampat with the branding of Coral Wonders.
