Indonesia: Foreign Tourist Visits Up 6.68% in March
TEMPO.CO, Tangerang – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced that the number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia reached 1.02 million visits in March. The figure represents a 6.68 percent increase from February’s 957,600 visits.
BPS chief Suhariyanto said in a press conference Tuesday that from January to March, there were 3.01 million foreign tourist arrivals recorded. This number is 15.07 percent higher compared to the same period last year when it reached 2.62 million.
Meanwhile, the occupancy rate of star-rated hotels in March this year averaged at 54.70 percent, or up from March 2016’s 52.88 percent.
The average length of stay of foreign and Indonesian guests in star-rated hotels throughout March was 1.89 days. This is 0.08 points higher compared to the same period last year.
