Laos’s SMEs Try to Access ASEAN Market
(KPL) The Economic Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with Khammuan provincial authorities, have organised a seminar on preparing Lao Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) access Market ASEAN SMEs.
A two-day seminar was held on March 20 in Khammuan Province under the theme “Opportunity and Challenge on Accessing Marketing of ASEAN’s SME” attended by the Khammuan Vice Governor, Mr Bounmy Phimmasone, the Director Economic Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr, Songkan Luangmuninthone, and trainees from relevant sectors and business operators.
The participants have frankly discussed and exchanged information about creating and promoting other potential SMEs to gain access to ASEAN’s SME market by focusing on Lao SMEs’ adaptation since ASEAN Economic Community in 2016.
The success of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits hosted by the Lao government was disseminated at the seminar.
The trainees were given some documents and important policies of Lao government regarding economic cooperation in the region, and Laos’ SMEs promotion policy. After that, the floor was given to the stakeholders/trainees from both central and provincial levels including businesspeople to share points of view and reactions to facilities given by the government and other constraints so as to remove difficulties and other obstacles for the operation and development of SMEs in Laos.
The seminar was supported by ASEAN–Japan that plays a role in encouraging cooperation and enhancing trade relations, investment and tourism between ASEAN and Japan.
