Cambodia’s largest online supermarket launches contactless delivery service

Delishop.Asia, the leading online supermarket in Cambodia, has once again come up with an important innovation, this time a system that will enable it to deliver products to customers with negligible risk of Coronavirus transmission.

The launch of a contactless delivery and service options for online payment was announced by the company in a news release shared with the media this week.

Jonathan Meuret, general manager of Delishop.Asia, said that the present situation necessitated the development of such a system.

Cambodia’s tally of 122 infected individuals has remained constant in the last two weeks. But there are fears that it could suddenly spiral if the people become complacent in following social distancing and other preventive measures.

“The sudden and rapid spread of Covid-19 has forced everyone to scale back on many social interactions and transactions we used to take for granted. The simple act of going outside to buy food and other essential items at a store now requires more thought and precaution,” he noted.

Under the new system, staff are mandated to practise social distancing, use sanitisers before delivery and regularly check their body temperature. It also requires for the Delishop.Asia warehouse plus all inventory crates used in deliveries to be washed and disinfected regularly.

“Once an order is hygienically packaged, a delivery partner will take it to a customer’s given address. The delivery partner will notify the customer that they have arrived and will place the order, sealed in bags, at a location designated by the customer. The delivery partner will wait for the customer to pick up the package while standing a few metres away,” the company said, explaining the way deliveries are processed under the system.

“Customers can pay while placing the order at the time of checkout. They can also pay in cash, or online via scan QR Code with Wing or ABA. To encourage customers to use cashless payment options, Delishop.Asia’s online payment partners are offering an array of discounts and cashback incentives,” it added.

For a delivery to follow through, customers must order grocery items worth at least $10 on Delishop.Asia’s website: https://delishop.asia/. The delivery charge is $1. Orders above $50 are free of delivery charges, the company stated.

Meuret said the new system will ensure that there will be little to no chance of the virus spreading.

“Through contactless delivery and online payment options, we are preventing virus transmission by significantly reducing interactions between customers and delivery partners,” he said.

Delishop.Asia is leading the online supermarket sector with more than 40 partners and a catalogue of 9,000 products ready for delivery across Phnom Penh. Last year, Delishop.Asia inked an agreement with Obor Capital that could help it expand and further transform online shopping in Cambodia.
