Thai, Cambodian central banks sign pact
Bank of Thailand announced on Monday it had signed an agreement with the National Bank of Cambodia on cooperation in payments and financial innovation.
The central banks’ governors, Veerathai Santiprabhob of Thailand and Chea Chanto of Cambodia, signed the document on February 3 in Phnom Penh.
The banks’ annual meetings are aimed at strengthening cooperation and deepening their relationship and have helped further enhance financial cooperation and promoted sustainable economic growth.
The deal signed this time aims to enhance collaboration on financial innovations and payment services to promote more efficient and secure domestic and cross-border payment transactions, as well as to promote the use of local currencies.
In this regard, the pilot project on developing interoperability of standard QR Code for payments has been agreed upon to facilitate retail payment services in Cambodia and payment linkages between the two countries.
