Indonesia: Apindo Demands Govt to Explain Challenges in Industry 4.0

TEMPO.COJakarta – The Indonesia Employers Association (Apindo) Chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani demanded the government to explain in detail the Industry 4.0 during the 10th national meeting (Munas) of Apindo in Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, South Jakarta today.

“In this Munas, we wanted to know the government’s preparation to face the challenges of Industry 4.0,” said Hariyadi in his opening speech at the meeting today.

Apindo national meeting that was opened by Vice President Jusuf Kalla will be held for two days. Some 34 representatives of Apindo from all regions will discuss the preparation prior to the fourth industrial revolution, known as industry 4.0, particularly in the human resources sector.

Also in the meeting were Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto and the head of the Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Trikasih Lembong.

According to Hariyadi, many businessmen or entrepreneurs have not acknowledged yet the focus of Industry 4.0 and the competencies they should have prepared in advance. “We expected Vice President and Ministers in this Munas will lighten us about those things, including its implication on the polarization of entrepreneur to the employee that naturally changed into millennial generation,” he explained.

Apindo Chairman Hariyadi argued the government’s administration towards the matter is important and that the ministries and related institutions should synergize to develop the human resources. The cooperation between regional government and central government is also needed to successfully develop the human resources to face the challenges of Industry 4.0.
