Thailand: OSMEP STEPS UP ON ‘BIG DATA FOR SMES

The Office of SME Promotion (OSMEP) will accelerate preparation of its Big Data as the national SME data centre to reflect real SME situations and to cope with other promotional measures systematically, said Kobsak Pootrakul, minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

OSMEP will become the centre connecting and administering useful data and information from other agencies for easier access by SMEs, Kobsak who supervises the OSMEP said after the meeting with the office’s executives.

He said that the office will also go ahead with five policies to support community enterprises, strengthen potential SMEs, push for SME 4.0 with digital technologies including e-Commerce and Big Data, develop SME network and make OSMEP reform.

Through the integration plan for SME promotion this year, OSMEP expects to add economic value of about Bt90 billion for 331,315 SMEs, which is estimated to raise SME gross domestic product by 5-5.5 per cent, up 5 per cent from the previous year.
