Coca-Cola to sell hot coffee in Indonesia

The local arm of Australia-listed Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) plans to start selling hot coffee in Indonesia by the end of the year.

“We will celebrate our 25th year [of operations here] with some exciting news. In the very near future, we’ll be bringing very high-quality coffee into Indonesia,” CCA Indonesia (CCAI) president director Kadir Gunduz said at a media briefing.

“It’s not going to be a cold [drink], but if you want, you can add ice and have an iced coffee,” he added, refusing to disclose further details.

CCAI has managed the Coca-Cola brand in Indonesia since 1992.

The coffee will initially be produced abroad, but the firm is considering building a local plant for coffee, if the sales volume justifies such a move.

The new product will complement six drink categories the firm produces and sells in Indonesia, namely sparkling water, mineral water, juice, tea, dairy products and isotonic drinks.

The firm has eight plants in different provinces, producing an average of 2.2 billion packaged drinks a year. (bbn)
