Laos: Ten Projects Need Investors

Vientiane Capital requires overseas investment in 10 projects in response to the Government’s sustainable development direction, a senior official has said.

This is according to the statement made by Bounthieng Khounsy, Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction of Vientiane Capital, at a seminar on cooperation and development of Kunming International Twin 2017 held in Kunming, China.

China’s investment in Vientiane Capital has seen a sharp increase, he said, adding that 185 Chinese investors have registered to invest in projects since 2009, with a total registration capital of US$ 6.5 million.

In addition, there are three mega investment projects: Xaysettha development zone, That Luang specific economic zone and Vientiane Industry and Trade Community, with a total investment of US$ 1.7 billion.

The projects short of investors set to operate in Vientiane Capital are ones such as cow raising farms, processed meat production, organic agriculture production, market-oriented production and service, rice production processing, interior décor production, animal feed, pure drinking water, native fish raising for market sale, aromatic coconut production and goods distribution and promotion in the Vientiane industrial community.
