Indonesia: Transportation Ministry Selects 3 Contractors for Patimban Port

TEMPO.COJakarta – The Ministry of Transportation has selected three Patimban Port contractors located in Subang, West Java. The three companies are the two state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and one Japanese company.

“The contractors are Penta-Ocean Construction (Japan), PT Wijaya Karya Tbk, and PT PP (Housing Development),” Budi said after visiting Buntet Islamic School in Cirebon, West Java, Sunday, May 20.

Previously, PT Adhi Karya Tbk was one of the three state-owned companies entering the final phase of the contractor tender for the Patimban Port. However, the Ministry of Transportation has made its choice to PT Wijaya Karya and PT PP.

As before the final decision, Budi said, the port construction will involve Japanese companies. One of them is Penta-Ocean Construction.

The Patimban Port consists of two parts, namely an area of 350 hectares of reclamation islands and the land area of 250-300 hectares. The government plans to build Port Patimban in three stages.

In the first stage, Port Patimban will have a vehicle terminal that can accommodate up to 360,000 units per year. In addition, there will be a container terminal with a capacity of 800,000 TEUs.

The Patimban Port project is financed by a loan from Japan of 118.9 billion yen, equivalent to Rp14.2 trillion, which will be gradually disbursed in accordance with the progress of construction. Japan pegged the interest rates of 0.1 percent and consulting services of 0.01 percent with a loan term of 40 years.
