Indonesia: `Go Online` Can Increase MSMEs Sales

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta – Yogyakarta Administration encourages all business actors, micro, small and medium (MSMEs) in the local area to compete globally with go online.

“With ‘go online’, I am sure the trend of MSMEs sales will be easier to increase,” said Head Field of MSMEs Cooperative and Yogyakarta MSMEs Agus Mulyono in Yogyakarta, Sunday.

Agus said the ‘Go Online’ campaign will continue to be intensified to the MSMEs actors because of marketing products via ‘online’. He thinks online marketing is more effective at reaching and attracting consumers than traditional one.

Moreover, in today’s digital era, the average of MSMEs actors in other countries has also been using digital technology-based means to market their products.

According to Agus, his party has not been able to collect the data on how many MSMEs in Yogyakarta who have done the ‘online’ marketing. However, he believes most business actors both small and large in Yogyakarta have known the method.

For the beginner entrepreneurs of Internet-based platform users, Agus suggests to simply join an existing ‘online’ store. Through it, the MSMEs actors do not have to laboriously promote their merchandise and more have a guarantee of transaction security.

“Now there are many ‘online’ stores, they simply register and market the goods there,” he said.

According to him, the company through the Yogyakarta Special Service Business Center (PLUT) has facilitated technical training on ‘online’ marketing, including the selection and uploading product images, the creation of an interesting description and the creation of the network in cyberspace.

“For MSMEs who want to ‘go online’, we facilitate free training at PLUT,” he said.

Based on the tiered data from the five regencies/municipalities, to date, there are approximately 200,000 MSMEs in Yogyakarta. Nevertheless, according to him, only 16,100 business actors or 8 percent who already have a small micro business license (IUMK).
