Trade Expo Indonesia 2017 Saw USD1.268bn in Transactions

TEMPO.COJakarta – The Trade Expo Indonesia 2017 that was held on October 11-15 saw USD1.268 billion in transactions or equal to Rp16.86 trillion. Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said that the figure represents a 24.3 percent increase compared to the last year’s edition.

“Our target was USD1.1 billion,” Lukita said yesterday in his closing address at TEI 2017 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition, Tangerang.

The most popular products during the TEI were coal, coffee, beverages, automotive, processed food, electronics and cosmetics. “We received guests from Morocco and South Africa; they were looking for our herbal cosmetics,” Minister Lukita said.

The Minister said that a total of 22,088 people from 113 countries visited the event. Aside from Indonesia, most of the buyers were from Japan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, India and Malaysia.

Moreover, the Minister explained that as many as 35 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed with 17 countries during the TEI 2017 valued at USD228.2 million or USD20 million more than last year. The government will continue to monitor and facilitate the follow up to the agreement signed at the forum.

An MoU on coal sales was also signed with Laos with a total transaction of USD588 million or equal to Rp7.82 trillion.
