Thailand: Kerry and Grab team up for new express delivery
Leading delivery company Kerry Express has partnered with Grab Thailand to introduce two new pick-up services this Valentine’s season.
The instant pick-up service allows items to be collected within 30 minutes, while the express pick-up service enables customers to schedule a parcel collection every hour.
These new services, available on the Kerry Express app, are set to pilot in the Greater Bangkok area.
The services are targeted at clients who have already packed their items and seek immediate delivery, or those who have time limitations.
Customers can use these services on the Kerry Express app by tapping the instant pick-up service.
A Grab driver should pick up the items within 30 minutes.
Alex Ng, chief executive of Kerry Express (Thailand), said in the past Kerry found many customers chose to use a delivery service to send parcels to its stores to avoid traffic and travel fees as well as save time.
“To fill this gap, Kerry Express developed door-to-door instant pick-up and express pick-up,” Mr Ng said. “By joining forces with Grab Thailand, whose strength lies in its driver base and fast deliveries, Kerry will be able to meet changing customer demands in a timely fashion.
“We are glad to have Grab Thailand as a partner to provide services. We spotted potentially unserved demand, especially for a group of people who are willing to pay for the best — fast and safe parcel delivery. We expect to see the user base grow from thousands to 100,000 post-launch from February. Feeding off our track record on cost management, this collaboration leverages our existing resources and doesn’t require additional cost.”
Alejandro Osorio, country head of Grab Thailand, said the partnership should shake up the industry.
“The new services differ from other standard services because of the combination of Kerry’s broad network of service shops available throughout the country and Grab’s hundreds of thousands of drivers operating across Thailand,” Mr Osorio said.
“Grab believes these synergies for the instant parcel pick-up services in the greater Bangkok area will help create a better experience for Kerry’s customers, who will relish convenient and rapid service at an affordable price.”
