Survey: Eight in 10 Malaysian employees feel they are realising their full potential at work
KUALA LUMPUR: Almost nine in ten (89%) Malaysian employees said they felt that they were realising their full potential in their roles, above the global average of 74%, according to the Randstad Workmonitor.
The survey found that Malaysians were the most satisfied, with female and younger employees saying they felt the most fulfilled.
This showed an opposite demographic trend to that of Singapore, whereby men said they were slightly more fulfilled than women by 3%, while more senior employees, aged 35 to 54 were 2% more fulfilled than their younger counterparts, aged 18 to 34.
Overall, Singapore also surpassed the global average, with 81% of employees feeling that they were realising their full potential in their current roles.
Randstad, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia managing director Michael Smith noted that the results were very encouraging with over eight in ten employees across Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia feeling that they are realising their full potential in their roles.
“However, while these results look positive, statistics also show that slightly over nine in ten feel that they need more training to stay up to date with their skills.
“This shows that while employees feel they are maximising their current skillsets, they are quickly understanding that more needs to be done to ensure they stay relevant,” he said in a statement.
He added that organisations needed to ensure that they were doing as much as possible to expand the skillsets of their workforce or risk losing their best talents.
The Randstad Workmonitor was launched in the Netherlands in 2003 and now covers 34 countries around the world, encompassing Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas.
