Myanmar to announce Economic Relief and Reform Plan soon

The government of Myanmar will announce the Economic Relief and Reform Plan, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counsellor of Myanmar, said in her address to the National Tourism Development Central Committee’s meeting held on January 8. 

“We will issue a Myanmar Economic Relief and Reform Plan, which includes plans to remedy the impact of the COVID-19. It is also part of the sustainable development plan,” she said. 

Moreover, the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, in collaboration with local organizations, has developed a roadmap for reviving the tourism industry in line with the recommendation of the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel & Tourism Council. The roadmap, which includes short-term, mid-term, and long-term plans, have to be implemented linking with the Myanmar Tourism Relief Plan, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said. 

In addition, the government will also issue a National Tourism Handbook by compiling all the guidelines on the prevention of COVID-19 issued by the related ministries for the safety of the travelers and staff who provide service are important.

“I want to urge everyone to work together so that all the practices become a system, not just practiced for the time being. Now, the authorities have been implementing leisure flights and cruising trips in the river and will continue opening the beaches inline with the rules and guidelines. The tourism industry has faced global challenges and I want to encourage all the stakeholders in the industry to promote community tourism which displays our tradition and cultures,” she added. 

She also called for innovation, technology, and marketing for the development of Myanmar’s tourism industry so that it can compete in the global tourism market.
