Myanmar: IRD to Put Tax Stamps on Illegally Imported Liquors

Internal Revenue Department announced on August 17 that the department will allow illegally imported foreign-made liquors to put an A1 tax stamp if owners pay taxes.

This is, the department said, part of the move to support importers, who import foreign-made liquors legally so that they do not suffer any loss when competing with other illegal importers in the domestic market.

The department will provide that service through the one-stop service system from September 1 to 30 as an operation.

Those who want to have their imported liquors tax-stamped will have to submit a declaration form to the respective Township Revenue Offices between August 21 and 28 to make the liquors in possession legal.

The department will not accept the declaration forms submitted after August 28 and will take legal measures if anyone sells the illegally imported foreign-made liquors during the operation period.

The Ministry of Commerce has allowed the importation of foreign-made liquors on May 25, this year.
