Laos: Public Debt Management, Added-Value Tax Draft Laws Brainstormed

(KPL) Ministry of Finance convened a meeting in Vientiane Capital on January 22-24 to allow representatives of relevant sectors to share comments on two draft laws on public debt management and value-added tax.

The laws are expected to be proposed to the government at its monthly meeting in February and the National Assembly at its 5th Ordinary Session early this year.

“The two laws are necessary and crucial for financial reform, especially for the collection of revenues, state investment management, and creation of favourable conditions for companies operating businesses in Laos,” Mr Bounleau Sinxayvoravong, General Director of Finance Policy and Legislation Department told the meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance, Mrs Thipphakone Chanthavongsa.

The drafting of the added-value tax law was initiated in early 2017.
