Laos, Cambodia Strengthen Cooperation On Labour, Social Welfare

(KPL) Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Khampheng Xaysompheng has signed with his Cambodian counterpart Vong Soth a Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation between the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Laos and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia.

The signed MoU aims to enhance the cooperation, exchange of technical lessons and experiences, especially on labour, social security, social welfares between the two ministries.

Both sides agreed to exchange visits of technical staff and senior officials every two years.

The agreement was signed during the working visit to Cambodia by Minister Khampheng on Mar 7-11.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, the Lao and Cambodian ministers held a bilateral meeting in Phnom Penh focusing on a number of issues namely labour, social security, the protection of the rights and interest of elderly people and people with disabilities, disaster victim assistance and the addressing of Unexploded Ordnance issues in Lao PDR.
