Kadin Indonesia Eyes Potential Cooperation with Laos in Labor Intensive Industry

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) said it would target potential investments in neighboring countries. Some ASEAN countries become mainstays in some sectors of labor intensive, education, and food and beverage industries.

“It’s not the Laos, but the potential is to make Laos a target for it. For exports to Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam or Thailand it is quite promising. So we build a factory in Laos,” said Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia for Trade Sector Benny Soetrisno after a business forum with 38 Laos businessman at Grand Hyatt Hotel Jakarta, Thursday (10/12/2017).

As for the suitable industry, Benny said, it is labor intensive, because the skilled force is not much available, even if available it is not good and not educated.

“Therefore, there is an idea for investments in vocational schools because to be a builder, must go to school. I am sure the vocational schools in Laos are not as complete as Indonesia,” he added.

In addition, Benny continued, what is more possible is the food and beverage industry. It can also in the form of a restaurant or food and beverage producer.

“Hence, at the next meeting in Laos it will be concretized. So it will be soon to be followed up. What kind of investment is more suitable? It is just it highly needs fertilizers and cements,” he said.
