Indonesia: Jakarta 2017 Budget Up by 2.4 Percent

TEMPO.COJakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government proposed some changes to its 2017 regional budget. They proposed a 2.43-percent budget increase to Rp71.89 trillion from the previous figure Rp70.19 trillion.

Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that in addition to increasing the budget and allocating funds for new activities, the amendment is also aimed to reduce the budget for unexecuted programs.

“The additional budget is to increase direct and indirect expenditures, although the total expenditure is still lower,” he said in a plenary meeting at Jakarta Parliament Building, Wednesday, September 20.

The increases in direct and indirect expenditures are aimed at meeting the allocation of direct services spending for public facilities such as health insurance, education operational cost, theJakarta Smart Card, as well as programs and activities focused on completing the RPJMD targets of 2013-2017.

“On the Revised Regional Budget of 2017, regional expenditure is down by Rp1.71 trillion or 2.70 percent to Rp61.89 trillion,” he said.
