Indonesia is Safe for Investment, VP Jusuf Kalla Says

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla has ensured that Indonesia’s political situation is stable and there is no major turmoil that would hamper investment.

VP Jusuf Kalla conveyed the message in his opening speech at The 3rd Islamic Development Bank Member Countries Sovereign Investments Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday, April 10, 2017.

Therefore, the Vice President has called on IDB members in the meeting to personally observe the real situation in Indonesia.

“Indonesian politic has the consistency, democracy, but is safe and there is no major turmoil,” the VP said.

Indonesia also boasts a large market with a population of 250 million people meaning that investment opportunities are wide open.

Furthermore, the Vice President said that the Indonesian government is expecting more sharia investment into the country.

Muslim-majority countries have mostly been investing in securities such as shares and bonds in Indonesia.

VP Jusuf Kalla said that infrastructure investments make up 52 percent of IDB investment in Indonesia and 40 percent is invested in the education sector. The investment is aimed at pushing physical development.
